"Nutcracker" auditions. Leggz Ltd. Dance is seeking children and teen ballet dancers, boys and girls, for the full-length "Nutcracker" ballet, with a live orchestra. Free appraisals. Eddie Costello will offer free appraisals and feature patriotic antiques and Americana on July 28 at 7:30 p.m.


Computer workshops. On Tuesday, Aug. 2, Computer Kindergarten for Grownups, a hands-on, user-friendly course, will be offered. On Tuesday, Aug. 9, Computer First Grade will be offered, covering working with text, files, word processing and more. Registration began Monday, July 11, for North Merrick cardholders, and it will start for non-residents on July 18. Fee: $10.


Kids summer reading. This year the library has chosen a musical theme for the summer reading incentive program, "Tune in at Your Library," for children entering kindergarten through sixth grade in September. Registration began Monday, June 20.

Kids' Summer Reading Club. Registration began June 27 at the Merrick Library Express and at the gazebo in town.


Friends of the Merrick Library. The group will meet on July 26 at 2 p.m. at the North Merrick Library. All are welcome.

Learn to DJ. A trip to Scratch Studios in New York City will take place on August 4.
