Lynbrook Community Coalition. Meeting on Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lynbrook HS. The program will feature a presentation by "The Players," presenting a series of vignettes on current issues facing our youth. Sponsored by the Nassau County Mental Health Association; this program is free of charge and open to all members of the Lynbrook Community.

Malverne Holiday Events. Friday, Dec. 5: Gingerbread Cookie Workshops at Village Hall, 11 a.m., 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. (Sold out). Saturday, Dec. 6: Breakfast with Santa at the American Legion Hall, 9 and 11 a.m. (Sold out). Children's Holiday Movie Matinee (time and movie TBA). Holiday Crafts at Village Hall, 3:30-4:30 p.m. (Sold out). Evening festivities begin at 5 p.m. and include: Snowmobile on Church Street, Dever Wind Ensemble, Elf Parade (line up on Francis Street at 5:15), Blessing of Creche at Village Fountain, Live Nativity and Carolers at Church of the Intercessor, meet Santa, pony rides and more.

Memory Loss Workshop at the Cathedral Church of the Intercessor. Learn how to tell the difference between normal memory problems and Alzheimers. Lauren Becker of the Alzheimers Foundation will discuss the causes of dementia and reversible causes of dementia-like symptoms. Saturday, Dec. 6, from noon to 1 p.m. All are welcome. No charge. Girls Volleyball Registration. Wheelchair Basketball Game. The Lynbrook Community Coalition invites you to attend a special family night held at Lynbrook HS Gym on Dec. 12 at 7:30 PM. Watch the Nassau County Kings Wheelchair Basketball Team take on Lynbrook students and residents. Admission is $3 adults, $2 students, under 5 free. Half of the proceeds go to the NC Kings BB Team. Congregation Beth David's thrift shop is open Tuesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. The Our Lady of Lourdes thrift shop is open on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Malverne Community Presbyterian Church's thrift shop is open Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church hall on Nottingham Road.

Education classes and study groups. The Malverne Jewish Center hosts a study group on Saturday afternoons. Rabbi Singer also offers education classes on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays after minyan.

Smoke free bingo. Congregation Beth David hosts smoke free bingo Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m.

Auxiliary police volunteers wanted. The East Rockaway Auxiliary Police Unit 111 is looking for new members. The volunteers provide security for parades, community events and assistance to the residents of East Rockaway. U.S. citizens between the ages of 18-60 with a valid driver's license interested in volunteering can call
