The Bellmore Board of Education meets every third Tuesday of the month in the library of the Charles A. Reinhard Early Childhood Center at 8 p.m.
The North Bellmore Board of Education meets at 8 p.m. every second Thursday of the month. The next meeting will be on Thursday, May 9, 8 p.m. at Martin Avenue School, 2616 Martin Avenue.
The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School Board of Education meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 8 p.m.at Brookside High School.
Community Groups
Sons of Italy. Giovanni Caboto Lodge 2372, "The Family Lodge" in Bellmore, meets every third Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Bellmore Exempt Hall on Petit Avenue in Bellmore. New members are always welcome. Call Tommasa Dato, president, at 735-9875 for more information.

The Mid-Nassau Democratic Club. On Sunday, June 9 the club will host an awards brunch honoring Viki and Burt DeJong for their many years of outstanding community service at Smithville Cafe in Bellmore from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For reservations call Leon Newman at (516) 735-4876.
Creative Arts Festival. On Saturday, June 8 at 1 p.m. at the Jacob Gunther School, the North Bellmore School District Creative Arts Program will host its annual arts festival. Festivities include a parade, art exhibit, drama presentations and dancing. The rain date is June 15.
Lions Club Flea Market. The Lions Club will sponsor an antiques, collectibles and hand-crafts flea market on Sunday, June 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bellmore Long Island Rail Road station. The money raised will go to local charities. For vendor information call (516) 785-0222 or (516) 826-9839.
Health Fair. Lindenhurst Eye Physicians and Surgeons located at 150 East Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst will be having their first annual health fair Sunday, June 2 from 10-3 p.m. There will be entertainment, information and screenings available for pediatrics to senior citizens.
Art Exposition and Sale. The Bellmore Village Merchants are sponsoring an art exposition and sale in the village on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Artists and sculptors who wish to show their work must pay a $25 set up fee. Interested artists should contact Seth Hoffman at (516) 785-7848.
Community Parent Center. The CPC invites all parents of 2002 kindergartners to attend an informative program on Tuesday, June 4 from 7:30-9 p.m. at the Brookside School Auditorium in North Merrick. The topics will include; preparing for the school year, separation anxiety for parents and kids, establishing a routine, making connections for working parents, positive reinforcement, age appropriate skill mastery and much more. Defensive Driving. A National Safety Council approved defensive driving course will be given at Temple Shaarei Shalom, 2569 Merrick Road, on May 30 from 7 to 10 p.m. Completion of the six-hour course entitles participants to a 10 percent discount on auto liability and collision insurance and removes up to four points from your license. 55 Alive/ Safe Driving class with instructor Bill Landahi will be held on Thursday evenings, June 13 and 20 from 6 to 10 p.m. That fee is $10. Registration is required at the reference desk for all of the safe-driving classes.
Meet Elmo in person on Saturday, June 8 from 11-11:30 p.m. Registration begins Monday, June 3 after 6 p.m. at the library.
All American Gymnastics will present a musical show for children ages 1 to 4 1/2 on June 8 at 3 p.m. Registration begins June 3 after 6 p.m. at the library.

Lil' Playmates registration for Children 18 to 29 months and their parent or caregiver will be held on Thursdays May 30 and June 6, 13 and 20 at 9:45 a.m. or 11 a.m. Sessions include free play time, a story and a craft. In-person registration begins May 16.
