Elmont Board of Education
The board’s next meeting, on Tuesday, August 11 at Elmont Road School. It will start at 8 p.m. The meeting will be the last before the start of a new school year.
Sewanhaka Central High School
The Board of Education will hold its next regular meeting on Tuesday, July 14 at Sewanhaka High School Board Room, 3rd floor, at 8 p.m.
Franklin Square Board of Ed.
The board’s next meeting, on Tuesday, August 11 at Elmont Road School. It will start at 8 p.m.
Valley Stream District 13
The Board of Education will hold its next regular business meeting on Tuesday, August 18 at 8 p.m.
Elmont Library Board
The Board of Trustees will hold its next regular meeting on Thursday, July 23. An executive session begins at 7 p.m., followed by the public meeting at 8 p.m.
Franklin Square Library Board
The Board of Trustees will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, July 28 at 7 p.m.
Franklin Square Chamber
The Chamber of Commerce will hold its next meeting, on Wednesday, September 16, at 6 p.m. at Franklin Caterer’s.
Retirees meeting
The Franklin Square Jewish Center Retirees Group will meet on Tuesday, July 14 at 10:30 a.m.

Membership drive
America Lodge 2245 of the Order of the Sons of Italy in America is conducting their annual membership drive.
The group’s next meeting will be held Wednesday, July 16 at the VFW Hall in Franklin Square.

Chair Yoga
Monday, July 20 at 1 p.m. join Mary Mazzone for yoga. This is a class suitable for all levels and will help participants learn how to listen to their bodies with gentle stretching and breathing.
Book Buddies
Monday, July 13, 20 and 27 at 3 p.m., teens in grades 7-12 are invited to be part of the BOOK BUDDIES program by reading aloud to children age 3-5. All teen buddies must attend an orientation meeting, Monday, July 6, at 1 p.m. to receive an information packet.
Health Assessments
On Thursday, July 16, at 10 a.m., the library will be running a health assessments program conducted by June Friedel, RN. Friedel discusses blood pressure, weight control and medication monitoring. One-on-one counseling is available. The event will take place in Meeting room 1.

A movie will be shown every Tuesday at 2 p.m. The movie schedule is as follows:

Board Game Marathon
Friday, July 17 and 31 at 1 p.m. spend fun-filled afternoons with board games. Bring your own board game or play one that belongs to the library. Bridge, Scrabble, Chess and more are available.
Grandparents Support Group
On Friday, July 24 at 9:30 a.m. the group will hold their monthly meeting. It is an ongoing open discussion group with Sari Flesch, A.A.B.A. and Social Worker. Nassau County Department of Senior Affairs. Coffee and cookies will be served.
Live animal fun
On Thursday, July 23 at 4 p.m., Green Meadows Farm will bring baby animals to the library, in an effort to educate children and families on the importance of living with Mother Nature. The event is for families with children of all ages. Registration begins July 9 for Elmont Library card holders.
Blood Drive
Monday, August 3 from 11 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The library will be holding a blood drive. The drive is sponsored by New York Blood Center. The Busmobile will be in the library parking lot.

Transit solutions for seniors
On Monday, July 20, library patrons can join Rosemary Mascali for Transit 101 for Franklin Square residents. Find out what transit options you have , what discounted fares are available for senior citizens and people with disabilities, and other important commuting facts.
Quilting Guild
The library’s quilting group will hold its next meeting on Friday, July 17 at
10 a.m.
Summer Story Time
The library’s next summer story time will be on Wednesday, July 22. It is broken into three groups, 3-4 year-olds at 10 and 11:30 a.m., followed by 4-6 year-olds at 1:30 p.m. Children must be registered in advance.
Zentangle
On Wednesday, July 22 from 7 to 8:30 p.m., join certified Zentangle teacher, MaryAnn Scheblein-Dawson in creating a unique design on calligraphic paper. All participants will receive a kit to use and take home to practice for the next session.
Chess Club
The library will be holding a meeting of it’s chess club on Monday, July 27 at 7 p.m.
Health
Drug and Alcohol Abuse Program
This program aims to help individuals and families recover from the ravages of substance abuse Group and individual therapy sessions, adult and adolescent treatment are available at Peninsula’s Counseling’s Valley Stream location, 70 W. Project Cares
This social day program is for men and women 60 and over who are considered frail due to physical or mental difficulties. The group meets Monday through Thursday at St. Joseph’s Church School Building, Broadway, Hewlett. For information call (516) 374-9278
