Program on sportsfishing at Freeport Library, 144 West Merrick Road. Through the use of slides, videotapes and transparencies, Captain Jerry McGrath will educate fishing novices.

Thursday, January 10, 7 p.m.

Defensive driving course at Freeport Library, 144 West Merrick Road. It will be conducted by instructors certified by the New York Safety Program which is approved by the Department of Motor Vehicles. $25 per person payable by check or money order only for each person to Driving Defensively. Anyone who arrives at 10:15 a.m. or does not complete the full course will not be eligible for a certificate.

Toddler story times are being offered at the library. Children must be 2-years-old. Groups are limited to 18 children. A parent or caretaker must stay with each child. Sessions will be 30 minutes and feature stories, crafts, songs and fingerplays.

Saturday story times will be offered for children ages 3 to kindergarten. The five half-hour long meetings will feature stories, films, songs and fingerplays. Registration begins Saturday, December 8.

Book babies is a program for children 9 to 15 months of age with a parent or caregiver. Sessions will be 20 minutes in length and will feature simple stories, nursery rhymes and fingerplays. In-person registration begins Wednesday, December 19. Birth certificate required at time of registration.

Game night for young adults in grades 6 to 12. Registration begins Monday, January 7 at the reference desk. Admission is free.

The YA Department of the library will be presenting a program entitled "How to Fill Out the FAFSA Form" for parents of college-bound high school seniors. Registration begins January 14. Admission is free.

After-school special for children in grades 1 and 2. There will be stories, creative activities and more. Free tickets will be available on December 26.
