Support Groups

Substance help. Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Thursday evening and Alanon meetings are held every Sunday evening in the school cafeteria of St. Barnabas Church in Bellmore. All meetings start at 7:30 p.m.

First Wednesday of every month,

Mothers helping mothers. The Sunrise Mother's Center, a non-profit, nonsectarian, member-run organization of mothers helping mother. The center is a place for mothers to meet, share experiences and develop new or existing skills. Discussion groups, committee work and special events, as well as a Time for Two program for children ages 12 months to three years old and their caregivers are also available. Quality, affordable childcare is also available for mothers attending discussion groups.

E. Meadow Library

The Friends of the Library are sponsoring an art contest for children at the library. The subject of the artwork is "The Things We Did Last Summer," and entries should be no larger than 11x14 and will be accepted at the Community Services Desk. The fee is $5 per entry. Judging will take place on Monday, Oct. 15, and prizes will be awarded to the winners.

Best in Show will be shown at the library. Coffee and tea will be available at noon at the afternoon showing.

Thirteen Days will be shown at the library. A film about how the Kennedy White House dealt with the Cuban missile crisis in the fall of 1962.

Great Books: a musical romp is going to be presented by Primrose Productions at the library. Nineteen songs, from rousing to riotous, about the classics and sung to Gilbert and Sullivan melodies, are introduced by the Narrator and performed by a group of actor/singers.
