Hello Dolly auditions at South Side Middle School, 67 Hillside Avenue. Have a song prepared. Readings will be from the script. Open call for performers age 14 and up. Performers age to 13, call for information and appointments at 764-1558.

RVC concerts are conducted at the Village Green on Maple Avenue. In case of rain, the concerts are held at the South Side Middle School on Hillside Avenue. Concert goers are reminded to bring folding chairs or blankets to sit on.

Square dance lessons are ongoing at the Rec Center.First lesson free. Fee $5.

Wednesdays, 8:30-10 pm..

Summer playground program will be held through August 9. The regularly weekly program is staffed by trained recreation personnel and open to grades 1-6. Registration is taking place at the Rec Center, Hewitt School or Wilson School.

Basketball leagues for adults, high school, middle and elementary ages 10-14 are encouraged to form teams and enter in male and female divisions. Games played at Mill River Centennial Park courts. Call (516) 678-9339 for forms and applications

New beginnings club Listen to speakers and on the third Wednesday of every month meet at a local restaurant to socialize and enjoy good food.

First Wednesday of every month, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Care club for the frail elderly meets twice weekly for music, crafts, exercise, a hot lunch and social opportunities, Call Wendy Weinstock for more times and days.

Community events

Informal learning session is being presented by B'nai Brith & Hadassah Members Insurance Program at the Ocean Star Diner, 2756 Long Beach Road, Oceanside. No fee. Continental breakfast served. Reservations required. Call Muriel at 536-6939. The community, as well as members, are invited to attend this free program. Topics discussed will include Long Term Care Insurance, Medicare, Medicare Supplement Insurance, Medicaid, the cost of long term care on Long Island and planning options available.

Words We Live By is a mini lexicon at Molloy College, Multi-Purpose Room, Wilbur Arts Center. Father Thomas M. Catania will explore the meaning of words such as faith, theology and spirituality.

Constantine's Sword is the book being discussed by Rabbi Paul Kushner and Father Thomas M. Catania at Molloy College, Multi-Purpose Room, Wilbur Arts Center. The book examines the role of the Roman Catholic Church throughout history concerning its promotion of anti-Semitism, as well as the progress Church has made in recent years to reverse its position towards the Jews.
