Shabbat Dinner The Suburban Park Jewish/Congregation Lev Torah will be having its monthly Shabbat Dinner at 400 Old Westbury Rd., East Meadow. The donation is $13 per person. The speaker will be Donna Rosenblum, representative from the Holocaust Museum in Glen Cove. This will coincide with Holocaust Memorial Day on April 19. Call the Temple for reservations at 796-8833.

Earth Day is set aside to promote ecology, encouraging us to think about the damage all those coughing tailpipes and smokestacks are causing.

A Talk on Child Safety and the Internet will take place at Borders Bookstore. Speaking will be litigator Joseph Campolo, from the East Meadow law firm of Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP. He will explain how parents can guard their kids against on-line predators. Mr. Campolo has already presented this topic at church organizations and various television news programs. Safe Boaters Course The Town of Hempstead Bay Constables are offering a Safe Boaters Course. This learning experience is mandatory before boaters between the ages of 10-17 may operate a vessel by themselves. Operators of personal watercraft, also known as jet skis and wave runners, who are between the ages 10-23, must also pass a safety course. Each class will take place in the auditorium of the Conservation and Waterways Administration Building on Lido Boulevard in Point Lookout. Participants are required to attend all three three-hour sessions and pass a test in order to be certified to operate a vessel. For adults 18 years or older the fee is $10. Substance help. Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Thursday evening and Alanon meetings are held every Sunday evening in the school cafeteria of St. Barnabas Church in Bellmore. All meetings start at 7:30 p.m.
Mothers helping mothers. The Sunrise Mother's Center, a non-profit, nonsectarian, member-run organization of mothers helping mother. The center is a place for mothers to meet, share experiences and develop new or existing skills. Discussion groups, committee work and special events, as well as a Time for Two program for children ages 12 months to three years old and their caregivers are also available.
