East Meadow library
The Decalogue, a series of films inspired by the Ten Commandments, will be presented at the library, with Dr. Algirdas Landsbergis acting as discussion leader. These films, full of the depth only a cinematic ringmaster like Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski is capable of, dramatize the Commandments by using the residents of a Warsaw apartment building. Each film is under an hour in length.

A Talk on Child Safety and the Internet will take place at Borders Bookstore. Speaking will be litigator Joseph Campolo, from the East Meadow law firm of Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP. He will explain how parents can guard their kids against on-line predators. Mr. Campolo has already presented this topic at church organizations and various television news programs. The Save the Earth Club has been focusing their attention this year on a FUTURECORPS Project called "McVey's Water Watchers." In February, the "Water Watchers" visited the Town of Hempstead Water District and now they will be part of East Meadow's Festival of Learning at McVey Elementary School. The Nassau Community College 30th Annual Folk Festival will present folk music, the multicultural music of our global society, and the traditional sounds that connect America's present to its past. New Anne Frank Book Hofstra University Professor Emeritus A. Frazer and his wife Sandra Solotaroff-Enzer are making appearances to discuss the life and diary of Anne Frank. They are co-editors of the recently published book," Anne Frank: Reflections on Her Life and Legacy." It's a collection of essays and reviews on this young woman and her powerful diary. Safe Boaters Course The Town of Hempstead Bay Constables are offering a Safe Boaters Course. This learning experience is mandatory before boaters between the ages of 10 through 17 may operate a vessel by themselves. Operators of personal watercraft, also known as jet skis and wave runners, who are between the ages 10-23, must also pass a safety course. Each class will take place in the auditorium of the Conservation and Waterways Administration Building on Lido Boulevard in Point Lookout. Participants are required to attend all three three-hour sessions and pass a test in order to be certified to operate a vessel. For adults 18 years or older the fee is $10.
