Little bit of a walk The third annual walk-a-thon in memory of Elizabeth Ryan will be held this Sunday, April 1 at the Bishop Molloy Rec Center in Point Lookout. The 5K fun run begins at 9:30, with the 1.6 mile walk starting at 10:15.
Faceoff The 28th Annual FDNY vs. NYPD hockey game will take place at the Nassau Coliseum on March 31 at noon. Nar-Anon The Nar-Anon Group is for you who know or have known a feeling of desperation concerning the drug addiction problem of someone near to you. Nar-Anon offers anonymous support, using first names only. Meetings are held every Friday evening in the West End Community Center at 8 p.m.

Alcohol screening Long Beach Medical Center's Family Alcoholism Counseling and Treatment Services (F.A.C.T..S.) will be screening for alcohol problems as part of National Alcohol Screening Day. The free screenings will be held Thursday, April 5 from 3-5 p.m., and 6-8 p.m. at the Long Beach Public Library. LB Breast Cancer Coalition's Lend A Helping Hand
On-going program that "lends a helping hand" to women from Long Beach and surrounding communities who are diagnosed with breast cancer and presently undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiation. If you know someone who would be helped by this service, please have them call 897-1344.
Arthritis Support Group The Arthritis Support Group meets the third Tuesday of every month from March through December at 2 p.m. in the Goldstein Auditorium at Long Beach Medical Center to provide support to arthtitis sufferers. Call 897-1504 for more information.

Disabled adults support The St. Charles Hospital and Rehabilitation Center Auxiliary sponsors a monthly support group for men and women who are physically disabled. Long Beach Auxiliary Police A recruitment drive for the Auxiliary Police is currently underway. Since 1940, The Long Beach Auxiliary Police have assisted the regular police department, serving as extra eyes and ears on the Long Beach streets and helping with traffic and crowd control during local emergencies and special events.
