Candidates Forum for the 19th Assembly District to be held at the Suburban Temple, 2900 Jerusalem Avenue, Wantagh. Candidates include incumbent Kathleen Murray and Steven November.

Special Election for the Baldwin School Board of Education to be held on Wednesday, November 15. Petitions must be returned by Monday, October 16 to run.

Kayak vs. breast cancer. Saturday, September 9, check-in at 9:30 A.M., paddle starts at 10 A.M. from Empire Kayaks, 4 Empire Blvd in Island Park. A three-mile (or less) paddle to raise money for the Long Beach Breast Cancer Coalition. Musical: Phantom, produced by The Gray Wig players at Hofstra University's John Cranford Adams Playhouse. Phantom features RVC resident Craig Woythaler. Tickets are $22, $20 for seniors and non-Hofstra students; all proceeds benefit Hofstra scholarships.

Bridge lessons will be given at the start of the center's fall schedule. Linda Pickens, an experienced and lively bridge instructor is known for her enthusiastic and fun teaching style. Take this opportunity to brush up on techniques and renew old skills. Educational materials are provided.

At the Library



Homework center is open to children in grades 4-6 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4-7 P.M. beginning September 19. The center is PC-equipped and staffed by a certified teacher and high school volunteers. Help is available for remedial as well as for students who want to get better grades.

Fingerprinting for children courtesy of the United Children's Fund will be held on Saturday, September 23 from 11 A.M. to 3 P.M. in the Baldwin Public Library Children's Auditorium. No appointment necessary.

Library card sign-up month is to be celebrated at the Baldwin Public Library on Saturday, September 16 from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. A famous storybook character will be on hand to entertain the children.

Play time, a one-hour program for 1 1/2 and 2-year-olds, to be held on Tuesdays, September 26, October 3, 10, 17 and 24. No more than two children per adult. Limited registration at children's desk.

Saturday Story Time for children age 3-K. Sessions held October 7, 14, 21, 28 and November 4 at 10 A.M.

Blood Pressure Screening by South Nassau Communities Hospital, to be held at the library on Thursday, September 14 from 10 A.M. to Noon. Free.
