The robber walked into the bank, at 550 Long Beach Blvd., at 11:35 a.m. on June 28 and slipped a note to the teller demanding money, according to Lt. Bruce Meyer of the Long Beach Police Department.
The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash to the robber, who then fled the bank. He then escaped from the area possibly in a four-door sedan believed to be a black Acura, Meyer said.
No one was reported injured, said police, who could not immediately give a total number of tellers and customers in the bank at the time of the heist.
Even though no weapon was displayed, the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous, said Meyer.
The robber is described as a white man, about 5-feet-9 or 5-feet-10, with a medium build, fair complexion and light brown hair, police said.
The robber is believed to be the same individual who held up the same bank on May 27 at 4:34 p.m., escaping with about $3,100 in cash, police said. Police said they are investigating to determine if he may have been responsible for other bank heists. Its thought that hes connected to three Commerce Bank robberies in Nassau County, said Meyer, who did not elaborate.
A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is urged to call the departments tip line at (516) 431-1800, ext. 6064. All calls will be kept strictly confidential and may be placed anonymously.
Long Beach is working in conjunction with the Nassau County Police Departments Robbery Squad, which has been tracking a pattern of bank robberies since February. Last month, the Robbery Squad arrested two suspects believed to be involved in separate patterns.
