Attendees of this free event will be treated to a showing of Adam Sandler's classic "Billy Madison" on a two-story, inflatable movie screen. Music provided by the WBAB van will welcome the teens. And there'll be plenty of refreshments.
The event, made possible by a grant secured by Nassau County Legislator David Denenberg, a Democrat of Merrick, will be held at the Four Towns Firefighters' Training Center on Merrick Road in Merrick.
Additionally, the Wellness Council, the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District and the Bellmore-Merrick United Secondary Teachers are teaming up to bring the community "A Parent's Guide for the Prevention of Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drug Use." The booklets were produced with the endorsements of more than 50 community groups, whose names are listed on the back cover page. The booklet contains a list of local resources prepared by the Community Parent Center. Funding for the project came from grants secured by Sen. Charles Fuschillo Jr. and Assemblyman David McDonough. Distribution of the booklets will take place during Back to School Night at all five Central District schools.
