Crane collapse victim honored

Posted
Just over a year ago, Gallone, 37, was one of seven people fatally injured when a crane collapsed into a 19-story building on East 51st Street in Manhattan. Gallone played professional baseball for three seasons as a minor leaguer in the Philadelphia Phillies system until a shoulder injury kept him from pursuing his career.
Standing under the scoreboard that now bears Gallone's name, family and friends wore the school's baseball team T-shirts. Family members included his widow, Jessica, and their daughter, Giuliana, 2, as well as his sister and parents. Also at the ceremony were two family friends, Vincent Proto and Sal DelGiudice, who came up with the idea for the scoreboard and held local fund-raisers to bring it to fruition.
