During the winter, South Side Middle School’s Art Club President Hannah Dion started making a gorgeous selection of one-of-a-kind jewelry in an effort to raise funds for a fellow artist in the Rockville Centre community. Hannah, an 8th grader, created her own label, “Feather,” for her jewelry collection.
Late last month, Hannah presented a check of her jewelry sale earnings to her beloved art tutor, Cathy Burns. Hannah wished to do something kind to show love and appreciation for the tutor who inspired and taught her. The money was also meant to help lighten the burden of heavy medical bills the Burns family has incurred while Kathy battled a serious illness.
Also featured in the photograph is 7th grader T.J. York who also enjoyed art lessons with Burns, and was happy to see her when she visited the school’s Art Club meeting in May.
