Crime Watch: East Rockaway, Lynbrook

Arrests
On Dec. 21 at 10:40 p.m., a 33-year-old, of Lynbrook, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance (heroin) and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument on Hempstead Avenue.

A 20-year-old, of Roosevelt, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated unlicensed operation and exceeding the speed limit on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook on Dec. 23 at 1 a.m.

An 18-year-old man, of Lynbrook, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance (hashish) and unlawful possession of marijuana on Sunrise Highway on Dec. 25 at 9:35 p.m.

On Dec. 29 at 3:05 p.m., an 18-year-old man, of Woodmere, was arrested and charged with petit larceny for a theft that occurred at Murlee’s clothing store located at 24 Atlantic Ave., on Sept. 25 at 4 p.m.

 A 31-year-old  man, of Hempstead, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed driver, exceeding the speed limit, and an open bench warrant from New York City on Jan. 4 at 1:10 a.m., on Peninsula Boulevard in Lynbrook.

Criminal mischief

 At 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 21 the owner of Cambertoe automotive repair shop on Hendrickson Avenue reported that an outside surveillance camera and the front glass door to the business was damaged on Dec. 19 at 9:10 p.m. The total amount of the damage is approximately $1,000.

Grand larceny
At 1:10 p.m. on Dec. 21 a man reported that he left his American Express credit card at the ATM at Citibank on Merrick Road on Dec. 15 at 4:30 p.m. Between Dec. 20 and Dec. 21 several unauthorized charges were made on the card totaling $350.95.

Identity theft

At 3:50 p.m. on Dec. 28 a woman reported that she was notified by Chase Bank of possible fraudulent activity on her checking account. An investigation revealed that six fraudulent checks were cashed on Dec. 15 and Dec. 16 totaling $1,328.
