Assemblyman Brian Curran completed the 25th annual Tobay Triathlon on Aug. 26, dedicating his efforts to the Wounded Warrior Project on behalf of injured veterans.
“It was a great privilege to compete in the Tobay triathlon, “Curran said. “I was in this race for those who have valiantly defended this nation, and with the support of all those who generously contributed, the entire community came together to honor and salute them. These men and women have sacrificed so much for our safety and many, too many, have made the ultimate sacrifice. It is our responsibility and duty to remember and support these heroes.”
Curran added that he wanted to personally thank all of the individuals and businesses that generously sponsored him to run. As of this writing, he had secured more than $2,000 in commitments for donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, in addition to the $2,500 he had raised when he participated in last year’s triathlon at Cedar Beach.
Those who contributed this year included Forest Lyn Corp., Hilary H. Becker, Roseanne Campo, Lyn Gift Shop, Atria Senior Living, Inc., Confide Counseling Center, Anthony F. Iovino, Esq., All Island Transportation, East Rockaway Village Pride Party, Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce, Vincent’s Restaurant, Miller’s Housewares Inc., Crown Ford, Kiwanis Club of Oceanside, Malverne Rotary Club, Mahler Realty and Alice M. Johnson.
The Wounded Warrior Project enlists the public’s aid and raises awareness for injured service members, providing direct programs and services to help wounded veterans.
“The Wounded Warrior Project takes a step toward making life for those who were injured serving this country just a little bit easier. Our community showed its colors with a strong turnout to support our injured veterans,” he said.
