There will be a reception to follow in the library's lobby, 700 Hempstead Tpke., Elmont.
"We want to bring to this area entertainment at an affordable price to serve people who don't have much of a choice to see traditional theater," said Laura Wallace-Rhodes, artistic director of the 34-year-old theatre company.
The full price of an adult ticket is $18, but the cost to library card holders is $13. The full price of a children's ticket is $8, but for children with library cards, it will cost $5.
"The Library Board is very excited about entering into this relationship with the Broad Hollow Theatre Group," said a letter released by the Elmont Library Board of Trustees. "Our Library's new state-of-the-art theater will not only be host to BroadHollow's Off-Broadway-caliber productions, but still be available for other groups to rent or use."
Jerry Zaback co-founded the BroadHollow Theatre Company in 1972. It currently operates out of The BayWay Arts Center in East Islip and The Studio Theatre in Lindenhurst. They were also the theater company-in residence for more than a decade at Molloy College, but increased enrollment forced administrators to use the theater as classrooms and lecture halls, Zaback said. He said he is excited to lay down roots in Elmont.
"I want to offer family entertainment and try to stay middle of the road and bring happiness to everybody," Zaback said.
