Last Saturday, South Side High School celebrated its homecoming in grand fashion.
The school led a parade down Long Beach Road, escorted by police officers and fire trucks. The parade was the first time the public got to see the high school’s new mascot, the South Side Cyclone, which was donated to the school by the Dantona family. The mascot doesn’t have an official name yet, and a contest is going to be held for students to name it.
Homecoming was also the official opening of the high school’s new field complex. This was the first year that homecoming was played on new turf field with the new stands lining it. The district held a special ribbon cutting ceremony to officially inaugurate the field.
