According to officials, on March 3, 1989, 13-year-old Kelly Ann Tinyes was baby-sitting her brother when she got a phone call. She later walked down her block Horton Road to the home of Robert Golub and entered his house. She was found dead the next day, murdered in the basement of Golubs home. Golub was arrested and convicted of murder and his serving a 25 to life sentence at Green Haven Prison in Stormville.
Eric Phillips, a spokesman for the D.A.'s office, said Rice reopened the case in 2006 at the behest of the Tinyes family and established a hot line for tips on the case: (516) 870-2813. The D.A. is asking for public help and anyone with information on the case to step forward, he said.
