'Damn Yankees' sure to be a hit

Based on Douglass Wallop's novel "The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant," the show is set in the 1950s and is about the beleaguered Washington Senators baseball team. Students gave a preview of the production at last month's community input meeting, where they performed "You gotta have heart."
"It's a chance for us to give the seniors a classic show from the height of musical theater," said Peter Freeman, director of fine and performing arts. "It's going to be a wonderful show."
Tickets for Damn Yankees are on sale now. Matinee performances will be held Thursday, Nov. 16, at 4 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m. Evening performances will be held on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 17 and 18, at 8 p.m. The price per ticket for the Thursday performance is $5; and the price per ticket for the Friday through Sunday performances is $9. Senior Citizens with a Gold Card receive free admission to the Thursday performance and a discounted $5 ticket price for all other performances.
Tickets may be purchased by mail addressed to Baldwin High School, Attention: Damn Yankee Ticket Sale, 841 Ethel T. Kloberg Drive, Baldwin NY 11510. Tickets may also be purchased (or picked up if ordered by mail) at the high school during lunch hours (10:15 a.m.-1 p.m.) and on Nov. 13-14 from 6-8 p.m. in the high school commons.
