Feller earned his undergraduate degree in history from SUNY Binghamton; his master's in special education from Columbia University; and his certification of advanced study in educational administration from Hofstra University. He has 30 years of experience in education, having worked as a special-education teacher for West Essex Regional Schools and East Williston School District and as director of special education for the Carle Place School district. Feller has held the position of administrator of educational services in East Williston since 1987.
As administrator of educational services, Feller was responsible for all pupil-personnel and special-education services for the more than 1,600 students in the kindergarten through 12th grade East Williston School District. As district-grants coordinator, he secured annual funds for a district-wide Drugs Free Schools Program; an Early Grade Class Size Reduction Program; and the Eisenhower Math and Science Grant, a program which supplements staff-development programs and teacher workshops for kindergarten through seventh grade. Feller also served as district chairperson for East Williston's committee on special education.
