Dennehy, Hartman to headline Island Harvest bash

Posted
The evening will feature an expanded gourmet tasting and cocktail hour with a variety of delicious tasting stations from scores of Long Island restaurants, caterers and country clubs. An exciting silent auction will coincide with the gourmet tasting. Proceeds from the celebration will support Island Harvest's mission to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island.
Monsignor Hartman will be honored with the "Above and Beyond Award." As one of Long Island's most respected spiritual leaders, the monsignor exemplifies Island Harvest's "Above and Beyond Award," which recognizes those individuals who devote extraordinary service to Island Harvest and Long Island. His selfless leadership and dedication to the community has made him one of Long Island's most influential and beloved figures. As past chairman of Island Harvest, he continues to be a source of hope for people who are hungry on Long Island and inspires and motivates others to get involved, too.
In addition, he is the president emeritus of Telecare and the founder of Thomas Hartman Foundation for Parkinson Research, Inc.
Brian Dennehy started his partnership with Island Harvest many years ago acting as the celebrity chair for several campaigns, and has become an avid spokesperson for the organization. The winner of the Tony Award for his role in the anniversary production of Arthur Miller's classic, "Death of a Salesman," Dennehy is being recognized for his involvement and dedication to Island Harvest and improving the quality of life on Long Island. He will be presented with the "Linda Breitstone Spirit Award," named for Island Harvest's founder and its first president, which honors individuals whose passion, determination and hard work have made a positive difference in the lives of neighbors struggling with adversity and Brian Dennehy's work on behalf of Island Harvest certainly meets that criteria.
"It is our privilege to have this opportunity to thank Monsignor Hartman and Mr. Dennehy for their never-ending dedication and tireless commitment to Island Harvest," said Randi Shubin Dresner, the president and CEO of Island Harvest. "Together, they make a tremendous difference and continue to help us to improve the lives of tens of thousands of Long Islanders."
