One stove fire was reported during the blizzard, as well as a few ambulance calls, but Hendrick said the village working around the clock to keep everyone safe.

“As it snowed the wind blew snow upward and it seemed like even worse,” he said.

In the event that residents lost power, the community center was reserved as a warming station, but Hendrick said luckily this has not yet been needed.

“Keep your cars off the streets so additional plowing can be done,” he urged residents. Sanitation pickup is canceled for Monday, to alleviate the snowplowing effort, Hendrick said.

All school weekend activities have been cancelled for the Lynbrook Public Schools due to the blizzard.
