Doctor combines nutrition and dentistry

Posted

This new examination is based on the essence of science (keen observation with the trained eye and deft interpretation by an educated mind) and takes only a few minutes longer that a dentist's regular examination. In addition to revealing the standard dental needs, this new exam also:1. Detects biological problems before they appear in blood or urine.2. Finds biological problems before they are detected by routine medical examination.3. Accurately determines the patient's nutritional status.Because the examination is objective, the patient also sees what the dentist sees and this co-diagnosis factor helps the patient better understand the findings, according to Gilbert.Dr. Gilbert can be reached on-line via web sites www.NewCenturyDentistry.com, www.NutritionalStatus.com and www.DentistryForNicePeople.com. His office is located at 176 Broadway in Lawrence, NY 11559, (516) 239-3333.

Free arthritis program

You can ask a doctor directly about arthritis on Monday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Long Beach Library, 111 West Park Ave. Dr. Gilbert Chou will present, free of charge, the program "Arthritis - What's New: The Latest Treatment Advances." He will discuss medicines, treatment techniques, exercise and diet. A question and answer period rounds out the program. Dr. Chou is a rheumatologist, a physician specializing in the medical treatment of arthritis. Arthritis affects over 420,000 Long Islanders, making it one of the most prevalent conditions in our community. Most importantly, the numbers are on the rise due to the aging of the baby boomer generation, all of who are reaching the time of life when osteoarthritis, the most common type of arthritis, often begins to be felt. It is proven that early medical intervention and modest lifestyle adaptations can alleviate many of the problems caused by arthritis; however, most people are unaware of those facts. This program is a part of the Arthritis Foundation's Arthritis Awareness Month series, which is supported by an unrestricted educational grant from Wyeth. Registration is requested. To register, or for further information, call the Arthritis Foundation at (631) 427-8272
