Motorists negotiating the already challenging stretch of the Southern State Parkway between exits 18, Eagle Avenue, and 19, Peninsula Boulevard, may be finding the drive a bit more difficult because lights along the highway have been dark. And motorists say it’s been that way for many months.
But Patricia Audinot of the New York State Department of Transportation told the Herald a very different story. According to her, the streetlights have been out for only about a month, after they were damaged by a lightning strike.
Audinot said her agency is aware of the problem and, “Our contractor should be out there fixing them within the next few weeks.”
