East Rockaway, Lynbrook, Rockvile Centre veterans remember Day of Infamy

On Monday, December 7th, veterans from Rockville Centre, Lynbrook, and East Rockaway, gathered at Lister Park in Rockville Centre to remember the surprise Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The ceremony was chaired by Rockville Centre American Legion Post 303 Commander Joe Scarola. Both RVC Mayor Fran Murray and Lynbrook American Legion Post 335 Commander Hank Speicher spoke during the ceremony. During the ceremony the Rockville Centre Fire Department color guard presented the colors while members of the department were also in attendance. At the end of the ceremony, Murray, Speicher, and East Rockaway VFW Post 3550 Commander Steve Owen jointly threw a wreath into the nearby creek to remember all those lost during the attack seventy-four years ago. The ceremony closed as all the veterans stood and saluted their fallen brothers as taps were played.
