South Side Middle School, responding to the hardships of the children of Masese, a village in Uganda, dedicated the December Extended Advisory to discuss the need to help others who are less fortunate. Earlier in the week, Delia Garrity presented a moving and educational PowerPoint illustrating the humanitarian work that has been done in Masese and the difference it has made in the life of the villagers.
The middle school’s generous staff and student population came through and raised $1,270 which will be directly allocated to feed the school children and their families in Masese. In the photo are Rockville Centre residents — and humanitarians — Diana Silon, Garrity, 6th graders Julia Lanzillotta, Peter Weiss and Stephanie Rhodes, Guilia Pugliese with Math teacher Lisa Silecchia.
