A home health aide was arrested last week for allegedly stealing the identity and financial information from an elderly Lido Beach resident that she cared for to pay her bills.

Fourth Precinct police arrested 26-year-old Cheryl Plummer, of Jamaica, N.Y., on Sept. 1 at 5:20 p.m.

Detectives said that Plummer was employed as a home health aide for a 94-year-old Lido Beach man, and used his debit card information and identity to pay her bills, including a New York City traffic summons. Police did not say how much money Plummer spent on the purchases and payments.

Police were made aware of the fraudulent transactions after the man’s primary home care attendant discovered the discrepancies in the victim’s checking account and notified his family.

Plummer turned herself in at the Fourth Precinct, and was charged with first and third degree-identity theft; second-degree possession of a forged instrument and third-degree grand larceny. She was arraigned on Sept. 2 in First District Court in Hempstead
