Harold Ekeh, Elmont Memorial High School Class of 2015 salutatorian, has committed to Yale University in the fall.
Ekeh was offered entrance into all eight Ivy League Schools, but in the end it was Yale that captured his heart.
“I am both incredibly humbled and excited to say that I am officially a part of the Yale University Class of 2019,” Ekeh said.
The Class of 2015 salutatorian cited his experience at Bulldog Days, visit days at Yale, with helping him arrive at a decision to attend the university.
“I met world scholars, outstanding educators and global leaders in their respective fields. The students were so inviting and helpful,” Ekeh said. “Through my conversations with current Yale students, I was inspired by their passion for learning for learning’s sake.”
Ekeh described the residential college system at Yale as “incredible” because it will allow him to experience the support and cohesiveness of a smaller community while still enjoying the resources of a large university.
“Yale embodies everything I am looking for in a university: a strong undergraduate focus, close interaction with professors and a solid support system,” Ekeh said. “I look forward to the next phase of life, the friends I will make and all the new opportunities that await me.”
