Members of the Chamber and community came out to honor outgoing President Paul Stargot, and welcome 2008 President Christopher Hackert. The chamber also celebrated its 2008 Man of the Year, Alan Beinhacker.
Paul Stargot, an accountant from East Meadow, led the Chamber as president during 2007, and was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the East Meadow community.
He is succeeded by Christopher Hackert, the owner of East Meadow Florist, who will serve as president for a one-year term. Nassau County Legislator Norma Gonsalves installed Hackert as president.
In his address to Chamber members and the community, Hackert said he hoped to educate the East Meadow community about the important role the Chamber plays, and stressed the need for residents to support their local businesses.
Hackert has owned East Meadow Florist since 1996 and has been an active member of the community, having served as president of the East Meadow Kiwanis Club in 2002. Alan Beinhacker, a Wantagh resident and former President of the Kiwanis, was recognized for his many years of volunteer service to East Meadow. Beinhacker has chaired countless community events, and raised tens of thousands of dollars over the years to benefit local charities and causes. Hackert noted that Beinhacker-s unselfish work has made East Meadow a better place in which to live and work.
