E.M. tree lighting spreads holiday cheer

The East Meadow Chamber of Commerce and the Council of East Meadow Community Organizations held the 22nd annual holiday lighting on Dec. 2 at Veterans Memorial Park. Dolores Rome and Liz Fries, who coordinated the event, helped East Meadow spread holiday cheer at the event. George Reimers, James Rome, Christine Mooney and Frank Camarano helped bring the park to life with decorations and Patrick Curry, David Gravely and Dave Jones helped with the tree ornaments.

Holiday tunes were enjoyed by all from the East Meadow High School Holiday Ensemble, conducted by Chris Bonacorsa. And there was face painting provided by Pat Tropea.

The East Meadow Fire Department stopped by with Santa, who brought candy canes and fire hats for children. Residents enjoyed hot chocolate, courtesy of the local 7-Eleven and donuts by Dunkin’ Donuts from a table manned by Boy Scouts from Troop 362 and Lisa Hallet. The girls from Daisy Troop 1119 made an appearance too as little elves.
