Enhanced 911 system in service here

Posted
Previously, 911 calls dialed in Rockville Centre were answered by Nassau County dispatchers who had to reroute some calls back to the Village.
The direct numbers to the village Police Department 766-1500, and to the Fire Department and emergency medical services, 766-0400, will remain in service for routine calls, but residents should use 911 in any emergency.
The new system automatically displays the phone number and address of all callers, including unlisted numbers, a great advantage if, for some reason, a caller cannot stay on the line.
Village officials remind residents that 911 should only be used for actual emergencies: when there is a fire; when you need the police; when you think someone's life is in danger, when someone faints or collapses, when someone is badly injured, or if you are in doubt about the extent or danger of an injury.
