North Shore Symphony Orchestra seeks young musicians to enter its 2009 Young Artists Award Competition. All Nassau and Suffolk high school students in the class of 2009 and 2010 are eligible to enter. To qualify for the NSSO Competition, students must play an orchestral instrument and enter with a standard concerto. Contestants must audition with the entire concerto, and an accompanist is required. The winner will receive a cash prize of $200 and have an opportunity to be a soloist with the North Shore Symphony Orchestra in concert on Saturday, June 13, 2009. Auditions take place Sunday afternoon, Mar. 22, 2009, at Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School.
