Rediscovering Slobodkina: A Pioneer of American Abstraction
A retrospective that celebrates the 100th anniversary of Russian-American artist Esphyr Slobodkina’s birth. Abstract paintings, whimsical sculptures, and works on paper are included. Through Mar. 22. Heckscher Museum of Art, Main St. and Prime Ave., Huntington. (631) 351-3250.
Robert Rauschenberg and His Contemporaries: Recent Prints from Universal Limited Art Editions
An homage to the artist, who died in May 2008. The exhibit features examples from Rauschenberg’s last print series, titled The Lotus Series, with imagery drawn from contemporary China. The exhibit includes works by Jasper Johns, recent lithographs by Helen Frankenthaler, a photogravure by Chuck Close and a lithograph by James Rosenquist. Long Island Black Artists Association

Long Island Collects

Out Of Africa

Poetic Journey: Hudson River Paintings from the Grey Collection
The Hudson River school paintings are featured in this exhibit, in conjunction with Long Island Collects, which marks the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s exploration of what came to be called the Hudson River.
