Warmed by hot chocolate and cider, several hundred people crowed around the Town of Hempstead stagemobile to see a host of entertainment. Elizabeth Eckhart kicked of the evening singing both Christmas carols and the Chanukah favorite "I have a little Dreidel."
Performers from New World Music continued the celebration with instrumental versions of several holiday songs.
The entertainment was interrupted when a special guest arrived on a Baldwin fire truck. Santa had stopped in for a visit. A long line formed as children waited for their turn to sit on old Saint Nick's lap and share their holiday wish list.
The annual lighting of the Christmas tree and Menorah were also crowd pleasers.
Other songs were shared by both the Baldwin Middle School Chorus and the High School Concert Choir. Dancing was provided by Pat's Dance Studio and the Police Athletic League Cheerleaders.
