“We decided to do a little something more this year,” explained Debra Markowitz, executive director of the Long Island Film/TV Foundation. “We wanted to find a way to expose people to local artists and the creative community.”
Welcome to the Artist’s Lounge. It’s a one-day exhibit/gathering, on Saturday, July 18, 2-6 p.m., where visitors can meet local authors and see exhibits by area artists.
Two Long Island authors – Ellen Meister, of “Smart One” and “Secret Confessions of the Applewood PTA” fame, along with Saralee Rosenberg, who wrote “Dear Neighbor, Drop Dead” as well as “ A Little Help From Above” and “Claire Voyant, Fate and Ms. Fortune” – will be on hand to autograph copies of their novels and meet and talk to fans. Markowitz, will have her new book, “Sarah and Caleb” along with her other work “Naked in the Rain” there as well.

Photographer/artist Carl Timpone is featured, with display some of his photos.  From concert shots, book covers, movie posters and photography “just for the art of it,” Timpone’s unique and intense photography shows our everyday universe in a new light.
Also exhibiting is artist Stanley Covington, Jr., a well-loved and respected mail carrier in the Mineola area. He first let the world know of his talent when his paintings were featured as part of the annual Black History Month celebration.
This free exhibit can be seen in the Filmmaker’s Lounge, directly west of the Bellmore Movies, in Bellmore.
