The blaze was quickly extinguished, and wasn¹t as bad as it initially looked, Minutoli said.
Franklin Square Fire Chief Teddy Braun said, ³This was an easy one. The guys did a fantastic job putting the fire right out and saved that building. There were no injuries.²
Nassau County fire marshals were called to the scene to determine the cause. Fire Marshal Vincent McManus said there was nothing suspicious about the blaze, though the cause had yet to be determined. ³It may be something involving a fan in the bathroom an electrical problem, but nothing suspicious, and investigations will continue,² McManus said.
Andrew Persaud, the gas station¹s manager, said the power was returned to the station by 9:30 Tuesday night, attendants were back at work, and the damage was confined to the bathroom.
In early December, a fire at the Gulf Station on the corner of Westminster Avenue and Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead was determined to have been caused by an illegal space heater.
