Long Beach firefighters rushed to the scene of a house fire on Virginia Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Long Beach Fire Commissioner Scott Kemins, the Fire Department received the call at 2:18 p.m. from an automatic fire alarm at 76 Virginia Ave.

Fire Chief RJ Tuccillo and First Assistant Chief Joseph Miller were first on the scene and looked through a window and observed smoke inside the two-story house, according to the department’s Facebook page.

Firefighters forced the front door open and began searching for the fire and potential victims under thick smoke. They located a heavy fire inside a large open room that consisted of the kitchen, living room and dining room.

The fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported. The occupants of the home were not in the house when the fire occurred.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal was called to the scene for a routine investigation and said the fire was not suspicious.
