Firefighters respond to car fire

No injuries were reported after the Valley Stream Fire Department responded to a car fire in the parking lot of the NEFCU credit union on E. Merrick Road at around 4 p.m. on Oct. 31.

First Assistant Chief James Ervolino and Engine 342 were the first to arrive and got the blaze under control quickly, according to firefighter Brian Grogan.

The fire was not deemed suspicious and started in the engine compartment, according to the department.
