Hundreds of residents packed Mill River Park on July 7 for Rockville Centre’s annual fireworks show.
Families gathered in the park before nightfall with blankets and lawn chairs as they watched performances by the South Shore Symphony, which began just before 8 p.m. Children of all ages played together on the grass in anticipation of the sky display — by Grucci Fireworks — which shot off at about 9:15 p.m.
The free event, which the village has hosted for 25 years, was presented by the Rockville Centre Guild for the Arts and the Village of Rockville Centre, and celebrated the 125th anniversary of the village’s incorporation.
Major sponsors included South Nassau Communtities Hospital, Mercy Medical Center, Concierge Choice Physicians and Mayor Francis X. Murray.
“Our Annual Fireworks Celebration and Concert along Mill River was a spectacularly successful night for all,” Murray said. “We had good weather, great entertainment, delicious food, and an outstanding fireworks display brought to us by Grucci Fireworks. I would like to thank everyone involved who contributed to making the night a success.”
