Fireworks, music and special awards

On June 30, Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray presented the town's prestigious Veterans Medal to eight outstanding indiviuals who had made extraordinary humanitarian contributions to fellow veterans. The Town also recognized three women for their efforts as orginal World War II "Rosie the Riveters".
The evening's highlights included the presentation of the Town of Hempstead Veterens Medal to individuals from Franklin Square, Wantagh, Lynbrook, North Bellmore, Levittwon, Elmont and Freeport, and a military display from the Second Battalion 25th Marines of Garden City, a classic car showcase and concet by Felix Cavaliere and the Rascals. The evening concluded with a spectacular fireworks display.
"Patrick Iuliucci's dedication to our veterans and the fine community work he performs for VFW Post 3350 is second to none," said Murrary. "He is among a core group of veteran volunteers who believe that our freedom and our way of life are gifts that cannot be taken for granted."
"Pat is involved in a variety of VFW and community projects. From raising funds for wheelchairs needed by veterans to assisting East Rockaway's Club 21 for disabled young adults, Pat is tireless in his efforts. He has been honored as a hero by the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency for the time he spends helping disabled veterans get to their medical appointments, and for his dedication to the "Stand Down" program that provides homeless veterans with food, clothing and counseling from the Veterans Affairs Administration."
