A former vice president for the East Meadow Board of Education recently filed notice that she plans to sue the Nassau County Police Department.
In papers filed by her attorney, Jeffrey Lisabeth, on Monday, Rothschild-Kaplan claimed she was beaten by officers who responded to a domestic incident at her home on Prospect Avenue on Aug. 9. According to the documents, the incident involved Rothschild-Kaplan and husband, David Kaplan.
Rothschild-Kaplan served one three-year term as a trustee, including her final year as vice president. She lost in her bid for reelection in May.
Detective Lt. Kevin Smith, spokesman for the Nassau County Police Department Public Information Office, would not comment on case specifics. However, he told the Herald that the department’s Internal Affairs Unit is handling an investigation of the incident.
David Kaplan did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
