Former Rockville Centre resident dies at 84

Donald A. Greenhall, 84, of Garnet Valley, PA, formerly of Rockville Centre, NY, died peacefully on Jan. 1.

Pre-deceased by his wife of 55 years, Irene Leav Greenhall, and parents, the late Melvin and Beatrice Feis Greenhall.

Donald worked for decades at Imperial Paper Box Corp, retiring in 1983 as production manager, but continued as a consultant.

A lifelong volunteer fireman, he was a member of Defenders Hose Company No.1 in Rockville Centre.  He had served as Captain of the Rockville Centre Fire Police, Captain of the Defenders and oversaw the Fire Department steering committee. In 2004 he was named Honorary Chief.

After moving to Garnet Valley, he joined the Concordville Fire Company.  Before moving to Pennsylvania, he also volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and served on the board of Island Harvest. In his early years, Donald was an Eagle Scout.

Donald is survived by daughters, Diana G. Newby and husband David of Naperville, IL, and Audrey L. Greenhall and husband George Chressanthis of Media, PA, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard & Ann Leav, grandchildren Andrea and Meredith Newby, Emily and William Chressanthis.
