Four scouts earn Eagle Scout rank in Troop 116 ceremony at Holy Name of Mary School in Valley Stream

Four members of Troop 116 were recently honored for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in a ceremony held at Holy Name of Mary School. The Scouts recognized were Isaiah Cullum, Michael Gay, Dylan Osborn and Christian Pichardo. Their Scoutmaster is Andrew Mihalick.

The ceremony took place on Jan. 10, marking an important milestone in each Scout’s journey. Each Eagle Scout completed a unique project demonstrating leadership and community service.

Cullum collected scrubs and medical clothing for the BOCES medical program in Valley Stream. Gay improved the Valley Stream Community Garden through various enhancements. Osborn built picnic tables for United Veterans of Beacon House, an organization providing housing and support for veterans. Pichardo gathered items and assembled travel and gift packages for children in foster care.

In terms of education, Gay will begin a culinary program at Nassau County Community College BOCES in March; Osborn studies environmental science at George Mason University; Cullum is studying nursing at CUNY York College; and Pichardo is enrolled in a welding program at Suffolk County Community College.

Cullum and Gay are from Valley Stream, Osborn is from Bayside, Queens, and Pichardo, originally from Valley Stream but now living in Medford, continued to participate in Troop 116, commuting to Valley Stream for meetings.

The achievements of Cullum, Gay, Osborn and Pichardo highlight their dedication to service, leadership and personal growth. Their commitment to Troop 116 and their communities reflects the core values of scouting as they continue to pursue their educational and career goals.
