Ford, unopposed, says she's grateful

"You know, it's amazing," Republican Legislator Denise Ford declared. "Four years ago, nobody gave me a chance. Then two years ago, I'm the only Republican in Long Beach to win, and now this."
"This" would be her coronation as an apparently unbeatable candidate -- so much so that the Democratic Party, in the largely Democratic 4th Legislative District, chose to cross-endorse the popular Ford rather than find a sacrificial lamb to lose to her again. Two years ago Robert Soloman, a favorite of Nassau County executive Tom Suozzi and a popular attorney, found out just how popular Ford, the widow of an FDNY hero who died in the line of duty, truly is. The Democrats could find nobody as brave as Soloman to try it again this year.
