Franklin Square school board race no contest

Posted
President Joe Armocida and Vice President John Randazzo are both running unopposed.
Armocida, an 18-year resident of Franklin Square, has served on the school board for six years. Armocida is a vice-president and project executive for HRH Construction LLC and has been with the company for 22 years. In addition to serving on the school board, he has been active with the district for the past decade on the Demographics Committee and the Construction Planning Committee. He was also chairman of the Citizens Budget Advisory Committee.
Armocida also volunteers for youth group activities with his church, St. Catherine of Sienna, and his participation in "Rebuilding Together Manhattan," an organization which rehabilitates homes for seniors and the less fortunate, is the best asset he brings to the table.
Randazzo, a partner in the family-owned Sandy's Party Supply Center Inc., has lived in Franklin Square since 1974 and has three daughters. He served on the Demographics Committee, the Building Committee and the Citizens Budget Advisory Committee for many years before running for school board in 2004. He defeated Alan Lahti for the open seat of retiring board member John Antoncich by nearly 700 votes in 2004.
Next week, Elmont school board candidates will be profiled. Comments about this story? FSeditor@liherald.com or (516) 569-4000 ext. 240.
