Freeley named president of nonprofit

Freeley has taught students ranging from first grade through the doctoral level. She has also served as an elementary school principal, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, and superintendent of the Carle Place and Glen Cove City school districts. Freeley is well published in her area of expertise, learning styles, and has conducted hundreds of workshops for teachers and administrators across the United States. She is the past president of the Nassau County Council of School Superintendents, the St. John's University Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, and St. Joseph's College Alumni Association. She also sits as a director on a number of business, philanthropic, and educational boards.
      Freeley has been involved with ASCD since the early 1980s. Over a 20-year span, she served at the affiliate and national levels in numerous leadership roles. As a member of New York State ASCD, she attended and presented at annual state conferences. By 1994, she was elected to the affiliate's executive council and moved from representative at-large to secretary, president-elect, and finally affiliate president. During that time, she represented her affiliate at the Affiliate Leadership Conferences, the Northeast Regional Conferences, and as a member of the ASCD Board of Directors.
      Freeley received her bachelor's degree from St. Joseph's College, master's degree from Queens College of the City University of New York, and doctorate in administrative and instructional leadership from St. John's University.
