The Friedberg JCC, 15 Neil Court in Oceanside, issued a press release on May 20 to announce its voluntary closure on May 21 and May 22 after finding out one of the children attending its preschool has a confirmed case of the H1N1 virus. During the closure, the facility will undergo a cleaning and disinfection. According to the release, the child has not been in the building for the past nine days and during that time the JCC has not received any additional reports of the H1N1 virus at its facility.
"We feel it is important to be proactive, as we want all of our members and families to feel comfortable when they use our facilities," wrote Arnie Preminger, president and CEO of the JCC, in the press release. The JCC is scheduled to resume operation on May 23. Its school will reopen after the Memorial Day holiday on Tuesday, May 26.
