In addition to competing against 95 other teams from across the nation, members of the Franklin Square Seminoles will be enshrined in the prestigious American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame.
The Franklin Square Seminoles are a non-profit Travel Baseball-Softball organization, run by Ron Garcia. The organization has been in existence since 1995 and is currently comprised of six boys baseball teams (ages 10 - 15), and two girls fastpitch Softball teams, ages 10 and 16. Eleven of the first group of 14 players from the 1995 team played Division I or II baseball at the college level.
Since 1996, the Cooperstown Dream Park experience has offered more than baseball. The cultural and life enriching experience for the team and family members will create memories to last a lifetime. Players and coaches will, like the heroes of the game before them, visit the National Baseball Hall of Fame, share hometown stories, trade pins and compete with players from around the United States for a weekly national title. Team records and photographs will be displayed in the American Youth Hall of Fame.
Teams will spend seven days and six nights in the Baseball Village clubhouses, eating three meals a day in the team dining pavilion. Teams will arrive on Saturday and depart on the following Friday. Each team is guaranteed eight games (weather permitting) and will earn a seed to play in the single-elimination championship tournament. Also, all teams will be represented in the "King of Swat", "Road Runner", Golden Arm", and "Around the Horn Plus" skills competitions. In 2004, the Seminoles own Glenn Affrunti competed against 79 other participants and won the "Golden Arm" award during the week Ron took his then 12 and under team.
Players will receive a Dreams Park home and away jersey, socks, hat and the prestigious American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame ring. All teams/players will have a Kodak photo session and receive personalized Cooperstown Dreams Park baseball cards.
